Paracetamol With Codeine Combinations

INDICATION

A narcotic medication used to relieve pain.

SIDE EFFECTS

Itching, rash, liver toxicity, sedation, decreased senses, euphoria, dizziness,seizures, low blood pressure, decreased heart rate, nausea, vomiting, constipation, dry mouth, urine retention, intestinal obstruction, flushing, respiratory depression, and addiction.

INTERACTIONS and PRECAUTIONS

1. Use with tricyclic antidepressants, antihistamines, sedatives, other narcotic analgesics, muscle relaxants, or alcohol can enhance sedation.
2. (Tylenol #3) cannot be used with (AZT).
3. Use with anticoagulants (Warfarin) can increase anticoagulant effect.
4. Use with carteolol can increase narcotic effect (oversedation).
5. Use with nitrates can cause excessive blood pressure drop.
6. Use with phenothiazines can increase phenothiazine effect.
7. Use with tetracyclines can slow tetracycline absorption.

USUAL DOSE

Adult: 1-2 capsules (15-30 mg codeine) every four hours as needed or 1 capsule (60 mg codeine) every four hours as needed.

Children: individualized per physician.
